PRAISE FOR SLCA
SLCA really stepped up their programming the past few years. In an era when others closed down, Brian and his team have expanded. We are all so fortunate to have this kind of creative activity right in our backyard.
—Elizabeth Reiss, Executive Director, The Arts Center of the Capital Region
For over 20 years, SLCA has been a great place for families in and around Sand Lake to enjoy quality arts and entertainment. Through the Center, members of our community can discover, appreciate and create excellence in theatre and performing arts!
—Scott Gallerie, Town Supervisor, Sand Lake
SLCA has been a favorite destination for attending, creating and loving theatre for many years for me. I still distinctly remember seeing the church structure in the distance as we made our way down Rte. 43—and the parking lot was jam-packed with patrons’ cars lining up to see Fiddler on the Roof.
The Center made it very easy to produce our first show, Men on Boats, which really launched all that we’ve been able to achieve since. It’s been a rolling, beautiful ride that has contributed so much to me, my collaborators and Averill Park.
—Patrick White, Artistic Director, Harbinger Theatre
SLCA is a multifaceted, community-focused arts organization that has developed and evolved in Sand Lake. For around 30 years, the Center has been a presenter of theatre, visual arts and music to several thousand patrons each year. New plays, music and other creative works by regional artists have premiered at the Center.
Over the past few years, under the leadership of Brian Sheldon, the Center has expanded its offerings, providing children with education in the arts and opportunities for artistic expression through performance and visual media.
I am proud to say that I serve as a member of the board of SLCA, a significant component of the fabric of the greater Averill Park community.
—Chet Opalka, Philanthropist and Board Member, SLCA
I know many of the people associated with running SLCA and know them to be dedicated, self-sacrificing individuals who go well over and above the call of duty to give the community quality arts experiences on an ongoing basis. What a gem we have here—not like I’m the first to notice that! Our center is well known and well respected far and wide!
—Val Gray
SLCA is the embodiment of what an arts organization should be: constantly involved in all aspects of the arts, with an emphasis on community. Take Brian Sheldon’s “can-do” attitude, throw in volunteers as active as these are, and you have a winning combination!
