Is there anyone not already familiar with the music of the legendary folksinger/songwriter/storyteller, Bill Staines? For over 40 years Bill has been traveling back and forth across North America presenting around 200 concerts each year and has received international acclaim as well. Bill has recorded 22 albums of his songs and Peter, Paul & Mary, The Highwaymen, and Makem and Clancy are among the artists who have also recorded his work. He appears frequently on many PBS TV and radio shows including the popular A Prairie Home Companion, has composed and performed a 15 piece suite based on Alaskan motifs for strings and brass, and has produced several songbooks. Bill Staines’ ability to see the beauty and excitement in ordinary things is unparalleled as he weaves a magical blend of wit and gentle humor into his performances. Three accomplished musicians with eclectic tastes – fiery flamenco, classical, Baroque, Latin & Appalachian – collaborate to create something totally unique: GX3+. The name GX3+ refers to the fact that we play (at least) three very different guitars: flamenco, classical & Baroque PLUS mandolin, charango, guilele, cajons (percussion boxes), banjo and mountain dulcimer. The result is innovative arrangements of the traditional, classical and Latin repertoire as well as stunning original compositions by Maria Zemantauski, arranged for the trio.
