UPCOMING AT SAND LAKE CENTER FOR THE ARTS

SEEKING SHORT TALKS BY INTERESTING PEOPLE!

SLCA is hosting a PechaKucha night on May 30 at 7 p.m.

A PechaKucha is a presentation consisting of 20 images, each shown for 20 seconds. The presenter shares their story along with the images.

A PechaKucha can cover any topic. Some examples are travel, animals, hobbies, professions, art, emotions, music, how-to, food, history, the future, your passion, satire, comedy—the list goes on!

Want to participate? Email susanne@slca-ctp.org with your name, phone number and subject of your proposed PechaKucha by April 30. We will reply with image submission instructions.

Presented courtesy of the Opalka Gallery, official PechaKucha Night Albany organizers.

REVIEW: ‘LITTLE WARS’ AT SLCA

Check out the review of Little Wars in Berkshire on Stage:

In a word, this production of Little Wars is a triumph. It’s a rare treat to see this much talent all together on one stage, and the show is greatly entertaining, emotionally gripping, and very timely. There are only a few performances left at the time of writing, and they are not to be missed.

REVIEW: ‘LITTLE WARS’ BATTLES MANY BIG DEMONS

Check out the review of Little Wars in Nippertown:

Set on the evening that France falls to the Nazis, we find ourselves in the salon of two of America's most famous expats, Gertrude Stein and Alice B. Toklas where the ladies are hosting what has become throughout history as another of their famous celebrity gatherings. The evening we are privy to, their guests are Lilian Hellman, Dorothy Parker, Agatha Christie, an unexpected guest, Mary, and their housekeeper/ helper Bernadette. What transpires over the next 100 or so minutes is a journey that will leave you riveted.

Tickets are still available for April 19 through 21!

CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS: 2024 JURIED ART SHOW

Submit your artwork for this year’s juried art show! This year’s inspiration comes from a quote from singer/songwriter Phil Ochs:

Artists are first and foremost the reflection of their time, and their ability to stay a few steps ahead of the rest of society is their contribution.

Media submissions of all types are welcome, including the written word. All pieces must reflect the quote above.

Submit JPEGs or PDFs to assvsubmit@gmail.com. Please include title, medium and dimensions (if applicable).

Submissions must be received by June 1. An artist reception will be held on July 6 from noon to 3 p.m.
